Privacy Policy
Welcome to The Pension Boards of the United Church of Christ Web site.
We see ourselves as the custodian of our participants' data. We are committed
to protecting your personal information. It is the policy of the Pension
Board United Church of Christ to limit the collection and safeguard the
privacy of personal information we collect or maintain.
We follow these principles in collecting and managing your personal information:
We collect personalinformation on individuals only as allowed by law. We limit the collection
of personal information to what is relevant and necessary to accomplish
our purpose.
We use personal
information only for the specified purposes, or purposes consistent with
those purposes. As with the majority of Web servers on the Internet,
we keep server logs that record and store information about each visit
to our site. This information includes:
- the Internet Protocol
("IP") address of visitors,
- date and time of
visits,
- URL of "referring"
web pages,
- pages visited on
our site, and
- "browser strings,"
which consist of the browser and operating system of visiting computers.
The sole purpose
of these logs is to monitor our usage in order to evaluate and improve
our site. The data collected in these logs is aggregate, and we do not
link this information with any personally identifiable information.
In addition, we do
not obtain any information about visitors from third parties (such as
direct marketers, etc.). Furthermore, we do not use our own database of
participant data to match a Web site visit in conjunction with personal,
demographic or other information that is collected during our normal business
operations.
Any personal information
provided by our visitors is used solely for its expressed purpose. We
do not share such information with any third parties or other agencies.
The only exception to this will be in the event that the law requires
disclosure of personal information.
We do not send unsolicited
e-mail or make unsolicited calls based on information voluntarily provided
through our Web site. In addition, since we do not share participant or
visitor information with third parties, any personal information provided
via our Web site will remain confidential.
We do not use cookies
to collect or preserve visitor information from our Web site. A cookie
is a small text file containing a unique identification number that is
transferred from a Web site to the hard drive of a computer. The Web server,
in turn, uses this information to present a visitor with custom Web pages,
session tracking, etc. The cookie identifies the Web browsernot
the visitorso that the stored information can be sent back to the
server when the browser requests a page from the server. A cookie will
not let a Web site know any personally identifiable information such as
a real name and address.
We use information
security safeguards. We take reasonable precautions to protect the
personal information on individuals collected or maintained. Personal
information is stored in secure locations. Our staff is trained on procedures
for the release of information, and access to personal information is
limited to those staff whose work requires it. Confidential information
is destroyed according to our records retention schedule. We conduct periodic
audits to ensure that proper information management policies and procedures
are being followed.
