Manager, Benefit Payment Group
Department: Member Services
Reports to: Sr. Actuarial Analyst
To manage the Benefit Payment Group that is responsible for all distributions from our Annuity Plan. To assist the Sr. Actuarial Analyst in all projects and processes related to administration of our plans and programs. To supervise, mentor, conduct performance evaluations, and oversee the Benefit Payment Group.
Coordinate the administration of the payout phase of our pension plans.
Responsible for maintaining documentation of department processes to enable the smooth flow of work.
Improvement of processes, writing of material and training of Benefit Payment Group staff.
Oversees timely processing of all monthly recurring processes.
Oversees timely processing of the Required Minimum Distribution checks.
Actively manages the day-to-day activities of the payment group.
Supervises the Benefit Payment Group and develops new methods for improving service in processing annuities, closeout, survivors and beneficiary checks, etc.
Attends management meetings involving plans and/or procedure changes.
Manages various projects for departmental reporting and changes to structure.
Oversees the maintenance of annuitants' records at the bank and in the OMNI system.
Supervises all estimates sent to the members.
Answers inquiries from members regarding quarterly annuity account statements.
Actively manages all assigned staff. Trains, coaches, mentors, conducts annual reviews, and provides feedback to staff.
Manages and assists with various projects as assigned.
Assists with special projects as needed.
Must be capable of completing projects as assigned with little supervision. Must be a self-starter.
Supervise staff and schedules to maintain on-time completion of process and projects.
Creation and maintenance of a Unit training manual and process documentation.
Must have worked in the benefits field for at least five years.
Must understand our mission; provide superior service to members.
Experience working for a church benefit organization is preferable.
Must have knowledge of benefit plans, especially DC plans (403(b) preferred)
Experience with OMNI+ is highly desirable.
Must have familiarity with annuities (calculations, DB plans, annuity types, etc.).
Must have administrative experience for project development and control.
Must have at least a Bachelor's Degree.
Actuarial experience is highly valued.
Excellent knowledge of various PC programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and their usage.
Supervisory experience and ability to effectively manage and train staff necessary.
Must be able to design and take responsibility for assigned programs.
Revise schedules and supervise staff to meet them.
