Reports to: Assistant Manager, Member Services
The role of the Benefits Representative is to respond to inquiries and requests from the members with regard to all of the Benefit Plans administered by the Pension Boards and to maintain updated information on the members’ accounts in relation to their participation in these Plans.
Provide beneficial assistance to members regarding access and availability to the Benefit Plans offered and respond promptly to inquiries and requests for assistance.
Offer additional Pension Boards Plans to members
Answer inquiries, received by letter and telephone calls from members, regarding the Annuity Plan, the Life Insurance and Disability Income Benefit and the Health and Dental Benefits Plans administered by the Pension Boards
Describe the operations of these Plans and furnish the members with accurate information
Explain to the members, the policies regarding enrollments, employment changes, death and retirement
Update members’ records and billing information on the computer system
Complete other tasks as assigned by the Assistant Manager.
Maintain high level of member satisfaction for Benefits Plans administered by the Pension Boards
Perform data input in membership file with 99.5% accuracy.

Education: A.A.S. Degree
Work Experience: 3 + years customer relations/insurance/pension experience

Work Experience: 5 + years customer relations/insurance/pension experience
Experience with OMNI systems a plus
Excellent organizational skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Ability to meet stated deadlines
Ability and willingness to learn policies and procedures of the Plans
Ability and willingness to learn and apply the Rules of the various Plans
Ability to work within structured procedures
Must possess a collegial attitude and team spirit to work effectively with co-workers
Customer Relations skills
Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of spreadsheets a plus
Light accurate 30+ words per minute typing
