The Pension Boards recently hosted its inaugural financial wellness webinar in Spanish for its Spanish-speaking members in March 2023.
The webinar, led by Taisha Rivera Cruz, Associate, Benefit Consultant, focused on financial planning for disasters, which informed participants how to financially prepare for unexpected life events such as illness, job loss, or natural disasters, which can significantly impact one's finances.
“We are thrilled to provide a personal financial education component that is tailored for our Spanish-speaking members,” said Ruth Madison, Executive Vice President, Benefit Plans and Services. “Our members in Puerto Rico will now have access to the tools and information they need to better manage their finances.”
The live Spanish webinars, which will be held quarterly, are an extension of the Pension Boards existing services to meet the growing needs of its members in Puerto Rico, that include assistance with Annuity Plan enrollment, benefits, and training. The new addition of live personal finance education connects the Pension Boards more closely with its Spanish-speaking members to further understand their unique financial challenges, and to help them meet their overall financial wellness goals. The Spanish webinars are also an extension of the monthly Power-Up Your Finances sessions held in collaboration with Ernst & Young, which helps supply webinar content.
“Our goal is to educate our Spanish-speaking members on the many benefits provided by the Pension Boards, and how they can best maximize the services available to them,” said Taisha.
The next live Spanish webinar will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. EDT, and will focus on retirement planning.
This summer, the Pension Boards will also offer its Spanish-speaking members a dedicated Spanish Resources web page that will be home to these Spanish webinar recordings, presentations, benefit resources, forms, and more.
