Participants of the UCC Non-Medicare Health Plan are covered for inpatient and outpatient medical services while traveling to foreign countries.
If you need information on available local hospitals or physicians at your travel destination before your trip, call 1.800.810.2583 or access the information at www.highmarkbcbs.com under BlueCard Doctor and Hospital Finder.
If you require medical attention when traveling outside the U.S., call BlueCard Worldwide at 1.800.810.2583 or call collect at 1.804.673.1177. A medical assistance coordinator, in conjunction with a nurse, will arrange hospitalization, if necessary, or make an appointment with a physician. In an emergency, you should go directly to the nearest hospital.

The UCC Non-Medicare Plan and UCC Medicare Supplement Plan with Rx offer hearing aid coverage to participants and their covered spouse/partners and dependent(s). Because this is a Plan enhancement, there is no need to enroll or apply separately for this coverage.
Coverage provides a maximum allowance of $3,000 every three years and includes:
Pharmacy copays for oral contraceptives are waived for UCC Medical Plan participants.
The waiver applies to generic prescriptions for oral contraceptives (birth-control pills) submitted or ordered either at a retail pharmacy location or by mail order. In the event a brand-name oral contraceptive is purchased when a generic substitute is available, the co-pay will be waived, but participants will be required to pay the price difference between the generic and brand-name medication.
The UCC Medical and Dental Benefits Plan, administered by the Pension Boards, offers coverage for transgender individuals in accordance with the schedule of benefits provided by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. This comprehensive schedule of benefits is available to all Plan members. All services provided must be considered medically necessary for coverage to be approved.
